We had a gay old time last night in San Francisco, where we feted the 20th anniversary of the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association with our good friends over at Kimpton Hotels.
Together we hosted a festive celebration at Postrio in Union Square for the hundreds of reporters, editors, producers, columnists, bloggers, students and communications professionals from all backgrounds in town this weekend for the organization’s annual convention. This year’s gathering is especially significant as NLGJA is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
Congratulations to NLGJA on 20 years of pushing for fair and accurate coverage of LGBT issues in the media. We’re proud that we’ve been the organization’s official and exclusive airline for more than half a decade.

When we announced earlier in the week our new offering of early boarding for those who purchase our Even More Legroom seats, we were doing something that might be confusing to some. We were offering even more added value to an existing offer. We know it’s hard to wrap your head around because most airlines (and even most companies) wouldn’t attempt such feats. In fact, most businesses do the exact opposite, either charging you the same and taking something away or charging you more for something extra.
We believe it’s just plane fair to let those Customers who pay for more legroom to board early, so they can get early access to the overhead bin space. After all, we became an airline in order to “bring humanity back to air travel.”
Don’t want to pay for more legroom? No problem! You already GET MORE legroom on JetBlue than any other U.S. airline offers in coach class. The Even More Legroom seats offer – take a guess – even more legroom! With this offering you can now also board early and have early access to overhead bin space. We know, you’re welcome.

The glorious gams featured above belong to our six-foot-five-inch tall Marketing Crewmember Don who certainly appreciates our Even More Legroom seats

Our newest partnership launched on September 1 with Vita Coco, an all natural, super-hydrating coconut water. Vita Coco will be boarded on all JetBlue flights beginning September while supplies last. The product, which will be original flavor, will be included as part of our regular snack service and should be served with ice.
In addition to the sampling, Vita Coco held a competition for young filmmakers to create a Vita Coco commercial to be played onboard JetBlue during the program as well in taxi cabs for September. The film contest was held in collaboration with none other than Spike Lee, who is not only a producer, writer, filmmaker and actor, but also an investor in Vita Coco.
Drink up!

Our CEO Dave Barger and team hosted the airline’s inaugural Swing for Good Golf Classic Business & Community Breakfast Panel Event at Twenty-four Fifth in Manhattan yesterday. The event provided attendees perspective regarding the impact companies can have on the communities they serve through charitable giving and community involvement.
We pride ourselves on being a service company that goes beyond the airport and has lasting impact on the local community. Our second annual Swing for Good Golf Classic, which takes place on October 7th, is a charitable golf tournament that benefits KaBOOM! and DoSomething.org, two major national charities. Nancy Lublin, CEO of Do Something.org and Darell Hammond, CEO of KaBOOM! joined Dave on the panel to discuss how the Swing for Good Golf Classic event impacted their organizations last year. Greg Baldwin, President of VolunteerMatch, moderated the discussion.
Among the topics discussed, KaBOOM! and DoSomething.org shared some of the recent programs and initiatives that were made possible by the inaugural JetBlue Swing for Good Golf Classic in 2009. KaBOOM!, which builds playgrounds for children in at-risk neighborhoods, teamed up with us on August 26, 2010, to build our ninth playground together in Roxbury, MA.
The 2010 JetBlue Swing for Good Golf Classic is scheduled for Thursday, October 7. Once again the event will be held at Bethpage State Park Golf Courses with more than 250 golfers participating.

Stop by the CNBC store entrance in the T5 Marketplace Friday, September 3 between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. ET for a book signing by author SaraLee Rosenberg of Dear Neighbor, Drop Dead.
About the book, Dear Neighbor, Drop Dead:
In Mindy’s yoga-obsessed, thirty-is-the-new-wife neighborhood, every day is a battle between Dunkin’ Donuts, her jaws-of-life jeans, and Beth Diamond, the self-absorbed sancti-mommy next door who looks sixteen from the back. So much for sharing the chores, the stores, and the occasional mischief to rival Wisteria Lane.
It’s another day, another dilemma until Beth’s marriage becomes fodder on Facebook. Suddenly the Ivy League blonde needs to be “friended,” and Mindy is the last mom standing. Together they take on hormones and hunger, family feuds and fidelity, and a harrowing journey that spills the truth about an unplanned pregnancy and a seventy-year-old miracle that altered their fates forever. Dear Neighbor, Drop Dead is a hilarious, stirring romp over fences and defenses that begs the question, what did you do to deserve living next door to a crazy woman? Sometimes it’s worth finding out.

…. more than 500 votes were received and the hands-down winner is….

"Sittin' by the dock" by Lori Harris
Lori is a Boston-based lawyer who takes a lot of pictures in her spare time to exercise the right side of her brain! The winning photo was taken lakeside in New Hampshire. It is special to Lori because it reflects the promise of peace and quiet in New Hampshire, which so many Bostonians seek during summer sojourns.
Check back next Wednesday for next week’s Blue Pic(K) of the Week contest and don’t forget to submit your photos (with your name and where you took the shot) to corpcommphotos@jetblue.com!
